Otto Ernst Remer Killed Before July 20

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Ernst_Remer

Remer was wounded in battle and placed in command of troops in Berlin. When the July 20 plot took place, he was sent to arrest Goebbels who put him on the phone with Hitler, who it turned out was still alive. Remer then took the troops he was using to round up the Nazis and turned them on the plotters, suppressing the coup.

What if he'd died in the incident that wounded him? Assuming no significant butterflies, someone else might be going to arrest Goebbels. This might change the timing of the arrest so contact isn't made with Hitler or Goebbels might be taken or kill himself before he can make the call.

Since Hitler survives I imagine the plot will ultimately unravel, but there could be knock-on effects from that. More top Nazis could be killed, more chaos, maybe even a collapse of the Western Front if it goes on long enough for Rommel or other sympathetic generals to surrender to the Allies.

However, if we go with minimal butterflies, the postwar situation could be interesting. He actually became a major politician and then fled into exile where he helped the Arab countries against Israel. The butterflies could get very interesting there.
