DBWI: Jorge Bergoglio elected pope

He said in his biography that he almost became a priest and then became one of the most famous chemists of the world, as well as the major British chemical Margaret Roberts. What if the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry Jorge Bergoglio had been elected pope?

Well, it's unlikely to begin with. While the Italians are losing their grip I doubt we'll see a pope from outside Europe anytime soon. If the Church does decide to go for a non-European I think someone from Africa is likely since it would be a good move politically.

But really I doubt you'd see much change on the Papacy side. You only get to be pope if you already conform to the ideas of the Church and no pope is going to make really radical changes. And add to that by the time Bergoglio would be old enough to be considered for office he's likely to be pretty conservative and entrenched in Church politics. Look at how his political stance took a much more conservative spin after he was placed under house arrest by the socialist Argentinian government.

This would be a weird timeline. I still remember the 2013, a papal conclave, when on the 13th March, after only one day they elected Cardinal Harold Walter Kroto, from Britain to be the new Pope.

Harold Walter Krotoschiner, who was born in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, England, to Edith and Heinz Krotoschiner, were born in Berlin and came to Great Britain in the 1930s as refugees from the Nazis because his father was Jewish.
Although raised Jewish, Harold Kroto has stated that, even as a child, he became fascinated by the Catholic Church and knew that this religion made sense to him.

He developed an interest in religious studied in secondary school, and because his sixth form had a chaplain, who suggested he should attend Presentation College in Reading which he did, before going onto Prior Park College in Bath, Murphy-O'Connor then began his studies for the priesthood in 1950 at the Venerable English College in Rome, where he received a degree in theology. Thereafter, he earned a licentiate in philosophy and a licentiate in sacred theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University.

He was created a Cardinal on the 21st February 2001 by John Paul II and titled as Archbishop Emeritus of Sussex.

On 15 September 2010, Kroto made international news after, fighting the opposition that was brewing in Britain due to Pope Benedict XVI's state visit to the UK.

His devotion to the catholic cause is said to be the main reason for his election, becoming Pope Adrian VII
