Abbasid Revolt Fail

What if Ummayad figure out the plans of As-Saffah and co are able to stangled the revolt in his cradle?
Ibrahim al-Imam, the brother of al-Saffah and al-Mansur, and the intended caliph, was captured and presumably killed by the Umayyads. Just killing off members the massive Abbasid family wouldn't work because the 'Abbasid' Revolution was less about enthroning a specific family and more about restoring rightly-guided rule to the caliphate/Islamic state.
You'd need to have a PoD going back decades to prevent the Umayyads' intense unpopularity to prevent a revolution.

The Umayyads always had a weak control over the empire as a whole, really only exercising serious control over Syria and letting governors and garrison cities handle most of the rest.

It is conceivable that a less centralized approach in Syria and a greater attempt to put Umayyad family members in the periphery to settle there may have helped.
