  1. Glorious Dawn: The Two Paths of Spaceflight

    Why everything is crossed out?
  2. 2001: A Space-Time Odyssey - Solo Mission

Why is the reusable first stage not used in Nuclear Ferry?
  3. Alternative History Armoured Fighting Vehicles Part 3

Please elaborate. What is wrong with that design and how should it be done to your opinion?
  4. Patton in Korea/MacArthur in the White House

Just cought up to this timeline and bingeread it. I think we have a candidate for a turtledove award. Thank you for the great reading so far. Patton on the defense? Hardly imaginable. Hammer and anvil with a flanking maneuver? That would be Patton style, although I have not got an understanding...
  5. Europe in a US-led Cuban Missile War

@GrahamB and marathag: To my knowledge, enhanced radiation weapons were not developed as "personnel killers", but as "tank killers" since nuclear weapons were found to have surprisingly low effect on mechanised forces by heat and overpressure. The "personnel killer story was a propaganda spin...
  6. Five Years Less - Brezhnev dies in 1977

I like your time line, but the new development is a bit over the top.
  7. The Kaiser's Europe or What if Germany Won the First Battle of the Marne?

No way South Tyrol. Never. Nil chance.
  8. The Cuban Missile War of 1962

Not really, but time is of the essence. The soviet weapons were kept apart from their front units. So they might get quite a lot in a quick strike, since here is no real leading up to war with time to mobilize for the soviets and wp forces.
  9. The Cuban Missile War of 1962

Great story. Just some nitpicks: there won't be young woman along the troops in the 1960s. I wonder a little, why there are air battles over Ukraine, which was deep in soviet territory. With the minute nuclear weapons are used, SIOP would be activated, so I guess the bombers are on their way...
  10. The betrayal of the Kaiserliche Marine and the resurrection of the Reichsmarine

It would be "Seevoegel" in German for a alias name in disguise, or "Marineflieger" as name for an official branch of the Kriegsmarine.
  11. Could the Space Shuttle have succeeded?

To make the Space Shuttle ,better' (not actually the proposed jack of all trades) it may be possible, to have created the STS an optionally manned vehicle, payload capacity of maybe 40 tons unmanned with autonomous landing, a ,stump' nose and payload bay up to the near front. For manned...
  12. Space Shuttle Challenger in-flight aborts

A question: IF there was only one deck for the crew and there were escape capsules installed derived from B-70, would there have been a chance for the crew to escape 1) when serious anomalies were detected (but miliseconds before the booster got loose and turned into the ET) or 2) since the crew...
  13. Alternate Space Shuttle Program Architecture

I have two proposals: 1. Number 4 "Right side up" would be my favorite choice. Reusable first stage, downsized seconde S-IV stage steamlined for production cost, maybe winged orbiter (Maybe even staying with an upgraded 4 man Apollo capsule with orbital module would work as well) 2. I'm not...
  14. Blue Skies in Camelot: An Alternate 60's and Beyond

I'm not that sure, those movements would even form in the way like in OTL. It was the breakdown in the 70's of optimism and old school marxism discredited, that created those ideologies, that could be described as a devils pact of capitalism, freudianism and the revolutionary ideas of the left.
  15. Alternate AFVs for the '70s

I thought the title of the thread was AFV's of the 70's and not a thread of fantasy drawings. I like the drawings quite a bit, but in their own thread like "my fantasy tank drawings", not taking this one hostage.
